"Truly good food promotes healing, not illness." - Tasha
Who's Cookin'?Tasha is passionate about making plant-based meals that taste amazingly good.
Growing up a preacher's kid in Tennessee, large communal meals made Sundays mean "love-day". While sharing rich food and great conversation with family (and strangers alike!), some of her most cherished memories were made around the table. After being diagnosed with a sight-threatening autoimmune condition in 2013, Tasha decided to slowly eliminate or reduce foods containing gluten (i.e., wheat products), refined sugar, dairy and red meat. The change greatly reduced the number "flare-ups" she experienced, with a remarkable improvement in her overall health. Finding food that satisfies her new preferences with the taste and quality that she expects became such a challenge. Determined to fill the gap in special diet food options for people who like flavorful food, Tasha left her career as a librarian and founded The First Organic, Vegan & Allergen-Friendly Soul Food Company - Tasha's Healthy Soul. She is also a certified instructor with the Oldways Preservation Trust's African Heritage & Health, Taste of African Heritage project. It is important for Tasha to help provide delicious food options to people who have limited choices. Through Tasha's Healthy Soul, she makes it possible for her family (and strangers too!) to enjoy truly good food, more consistently. Everyday can be "love-day"! |
